Join Lisa Shaw and Sam Gill for this 3 part masterclass that educates you on the way of Shoshin

'The beginners mind'

​

Over each 2 hours we will explore;

The power of the breath to calm and ground the body and mind.

A mobility warm up that explores range of motion to stabilise and strengthen joints and muscles and to ensure we move safely.

Finishing with a set sequence that will be the same over the 3 masterclasses so you can monitor your progression.

 

You will be provided with a video of the set sequence to follow between masterclasses in your own time to ensure you are fully immersed in each masterclass.

Who is this for?

We are opening limited spaces to those who are serious about looking into the capabilities of their bodies through a beginners mindset and while you can attend 1 masterclass we advise to attend all 3 to get the most out of this practice.

​

Each masterclass will offer the same set sequence while bringing a new focus to each one.

Any level can attend all though some knowledge of movement/yoga will be beneficial.

Movement Duo

For anyone who doesn't know Sam and I as a movement duo here is a little about why this partnerships has withstood the test of time...

 

In 2016 I stepped fresh off a plane from Morocco and was invited to teach in a studio in Edinburgh. This is where I met Sam. Quite quickly we established that we both came from an interest and passion for martial arts, with yoga being the uniting factor. This made me excited to try one of Sam's classes. I was instantly hooked.

During our time teaching in the same studio our relationship quickly turned into one of trust and strength. Still to this day I consider Sam as family.

I truly believe our shared passion for martial arts is where our shared values align.

Martial arts has taught me over my lifetime discipline, respect, confidence, positivity, patience, and self-belief, fostering personal growth and a positive mindset both inside and outside the training space. Our friendship has always encouraged every part of this.

​

 The first year of our newly discovered connection saw us travelling to Budokon training weekends which later would lead Sam to do his full 500hr training in Miami.

​

Sam offers so many elements to his teaching. His grounded and calm nature sets the pace for the practice, while Sam's clear direction and knowledge leave you in awe of the possibilities your body holds. His classes combine yoga and martial arts taken from his training with Budokon University and like my classes, we explore the relationship between both and how they complement one another and our everyday lives.

 

Since 2016 Sam became the head teacher at my studio The Movement House and during this time Sam and I travelled to Morocco and Tenerife to deliver successful mixed movement retreats. As the only 2 mixed movement teachers in Scotland we have decided to bring our skills to both Edinburgh and Glasgow for the rest of this year with plans to go further afield in 2026 offering workshops, retreats and even a teacher training eventually.

Never the teacher, always the student. While we continue to expand our knowledge of the human body we would love to share what we have learnt so far and perhaps open you to the art of Shoshin.
