RE-CONNECTING HUMANS TO THEMSELVES THROUGH MOVEMENT

I have spent 23 years furthering my knowledge through education and training's of many different movement patterns including yoga, dance, somatic movement, martial arts, calisthenics, mobility, breath-work and meditation. I help others find their purpose within movement and what speaks to them and their bodies, while helping educate on what our bodies are capable of though a mixed movement practice. I offer a way to explore the feeling of movement on the internal and external body that opens us to experience a break through of habitual patters and makes way for a wider perspective on our practice

WHAT THE BRAIN CREATES
THE MUSCLE FOLLOWS

If you tell me you won't touch your toes then you won't. It's all in the mindset. A belief that we can. Indeed that isn't as easy as it sounds but with the right guidance to explore what each of our bodies and minds are capable of we open ourselves to the possibilities.

My focus is to remove the limitations we put on ourselves over time and rather use safe and accessible ways of moving that expand the body and mind. All I ask is you come with an open mind and thirst to learn.

I was 2 when I first took to the stage as a tiny ballerina but even then I knew movement was to be my life. I've never known anything else. It was a quick but natural progression into martial arts, then yoga and before I knew it I was traveling the world performing, training and teaching. I haven't looked back since, dedicating my life to studying many different patterns and disciplines of movement. It was a natural progression to becoming a mixed movement teacher, especially when it was clear to see the relationship between so many movement patterns. My way of teaching can incorporate yoga, martial arts, dance, somatic movement, calisthenics, mobility, functional movement, breath-work and meditation.

With a background of battling mental health, having an outlet to express myself however that looks has taught me so much about my capabilities, resilience and adaptability. I am proud to say today that I am in control of my mental health and that is all thanks to understanding the possibilities that movement offers and the capabilities of the human body.

I have implemented my 4 pillar method into my daily life and have seen clear results. Ones that have supported my physical and mental well-being and have allowed me to deal with the chaos and randomness of this world. I  incorporate these pillars into each experience I offer and like to share as much around this as possible so you too can explore your capabilities.

THE PILLARS

AN ACT OF BALANCE

01

MOVEMENT

If you were to ask someone if they have exercised today they may say no but if you were to ask someone if they have moved today they will always say yes. It's all in the perspective of what we believe to be exercise that could also be movement and just as beneficial. From this place we can begin to explore movement in a whole new way and one that allows us to move with purpose and from our intuition rather than habit while removing the pressure that certain vocabulary and perspectives can create.

02

MINDSET

Welcome to your strength training, it's all in the mental game. If we tell ourselves we won't touch our toes then we won't. 'What the brain creates the muscle follows.' Focused on thinking and moving from the art of Shoshin - the Japanese zen word for the beginners mind and the 3 A's Acknowledgement. Acceptance. Accessibility. Without judgement, questioning or attachment. From this place we can build a mindset that is one of great opportunity and possibilities.

03

BREATHE

The most powerful tool in our body and the voice to our response to our practice. Knowledge is power! Educating you first and foremost on the mechanics of the breath so we are able to understand how the breath works to our advantage. While helping control the nervous system and how this can be applied to our practice so we can feel more connected and at ease not only in our movement but our daily lives too.

04

RESET

Most think we need to cultivate a tranquil space, light essential oil candles and have a Buddhist monk guide us into a meditation while easily disconnecting for the mind. The reality is that for most of us life doesn’t always lend itself to this and most modern minds aren't that quiet. The question is 'how much do you value your physical and mental health?' Focused on teaching us the fundamentals that can reboot our nervous system and offer a reset - this can then be applied to our movement practice and everyday lives.
