There is a rhythm within you that predates your schedule.

A pulse older than productivity.

A tide that moves between rest and expression.

This introductory retreat is an exploration of Night and Day.

Of Yin and Yang.

Of the body as a living conversation between nourishment and expression. Designed to refresh and restore your internal harmony.

Moving from the art of Qigong and element in the season of Summer, fire which represents joy, passion, warmth, growth and the heart organ. During this time Qigong practices focus on cultivating heart energy (heart and small intestine meridians) to promote balance, calmness and joy.

What is Qigong?

Qigong derives its name from two Chinese words: ''qi'' meaning life force or energy, and ''gong'' which translates to skill, work or practice. Qigong can be understood as the skillful practice of cultivating and harnessing life energy for health.

Qigong uses gentle, flowing movements, tapping, shaking, breath work and massage to help move energy through vital pathways known as meridians. Each meridian is connected to specific internal organs, and different energy pathways nourish the various organ systems in the body.

As one of the oldest branches of Chinese medicine, Qigong was referred to as Dao Yin, meaning ''guiding and pulling,'' which captures the essence of its practice. It was associated with techniques that promote health with the broader concept of ''Yang Sheng'' or ''nurturing life,'' encompassing various practices including Qigong.

There are many different forms of Qigong, each with its own style and techniques, reflecting the diverse teachings of various masters and lineages. Most styles of Qigoing are primarily focused on the intention of healing and disease prevention, with many firms specifically designed to support the energetic systems of particular organs.

Night
to Light

An integration of energies...

Take your shoes off there is no need for them here. Take a deep breath you have arrived. With the glistening of the sun on your face, the gentle summer breeze on your skin and the rustling of nature, our senses are awakened while we rest our rhythm and pace.

From the Taoist concept of Wu Wei we create pathways that allow us to act without forcing, moving in accordance with the flow of nature's course.

Our chosen location allows us to feel immersed and connected to nature. The wellness space situated on the grounds of Dalkeith Country Park is laced in woodland and wildlife with the North and South river Esk running through creating the perfect tranquil setting to connect and move. The meeting of the two rivers is poignant to the meeting of our two energies (Qi) Yin & Yang.

Night

Explore our Yin Qi which represents the black, dark, North, passive, earth, cold and softness - providing spirit to all things. Yin may also be represented by water, which symbolizes transformation, the tiger, the color orange.

To Light

Our Yang Qi represents the white, light, South, active, the sun god, heaven, warmth and hardness - providing form to all things. Yang may also be represented by fire, which symbolizes creativity, the dragon, the color blue.
